The Whitby Goth weekend is a twice yearly festival held in April and October/ November. It has grown into one of the most popular alternative events in the world, attracting attendees from across the UK and around the world. The main event is held at the town's 1,000 capacity Whitby Spa Pavilion, however, other venues such as The Coliseum, Victoria Place are sometimes used for overspill events and various venues including The Resolution, Laughtons and RAW nightclub are used for unofficial events.

Although referred to as a "weekend" it includes events during the day on Friday and Saturday as well as fringe events on the Thursday, Sunday and Monday. These events include additional club nights, markets, and a charity football match between goths and the local newspaper the Whitby Gazette on the Sunday.

Even if this isn't your scene, it is a spectacular event and one worth visiting Whitby to witness some very elaborate costumes.

Whitby Holiday Home is a great location to stay in for access to the town centre events and the Spa Pavilion as is only 5 minutes walk from both!

Seven days of dancing in the streets, music and singing in the pubs, concerts and dances until late into the night, and a whole lot more. Seven days of meeting old friends and making new ones.

Altogether, Whitby Folk Week is a compelling reason for ignoring the ‘Costas’ and heading to the north east of England in late August each year.

This long-standing celebration of the traditional music, dance and song of the British Isles has taken on the trappings of a tradition in its own right. With over 600 events covering workshops, concerts, singarounds, dance, sessions, street entertainment and the extensive ‘fringe’ events that blossom spontaneously. Whitby Regatta

The Whitby Regatta is one of the main Whitby events of the year and one of the oldest sea regattas in the country.  With entertainment for all the family, accommodation is highly sought after, so early booking is essential!

In August every year, the Whitby Regatta presents to you, three full days of entertainment; including yacht racing, rowing races and various free forms of entertainment, finishing with a prize presentation and spectacular firework display.  Events include:
